Dear Visitor, the first and foremost aim of this website is to give information about comparative philosophy. But for those of you who want to know something about “the brain” behind this site, here follows a brief résumé.

Ann Schroyens received a Master’s degree in philosophy from Brussels Free University, studied Non-Western Philosophy at Gent University and finished the post-graduate course of Diversity Management at Catholic University Leuven (Louvain). Since 1993, she has been a member of the School for Comparative Philosophy Antwerpen, where she came into contact with the comparative philosophic model of Ulrich Libbrecht. Struck by its depth and far-reaching philosophical consequences, she recently engaged herself in the application of this model as an instrument in comparative philosophy. In her professional life, she is business consultant in personnel and diversity management.
Over the years, she has worked on publications and articles concerning the comparative model of U. Libbrecht (articles in translation, the book in English: ‘Within the 4 Seas…’ (Peeters, 2007) about the construction of the comparative model, and ‘Bouddha et Moi’ (Lulu, 2012), a French publication for non-professionals about the fundamental ideas of Buddhism). In her own right, she has published articles in the section ‘comparative philosophy’ of the bi-monthly ‘Filosofie’ (Garant): ‘African Philosophy in a Comparative Model’ in two installments (vol. 21, nos. 2 & 3) with, in collaboration with Heinz Kimmerle the addition of accompanying reflections (vol. 21, no. 4), and ‘Michel de Montaigne, comparative thinker?’ (vol. 23, no. 1 – to be published). She is also co-author of the book ‘Leopold Flam – yesterday’s philosopher for tomorrow’s world’ (VUB Press, 2010), in a contribution which considers this philosopher from the comparative view.
The strength of comparative philosophy and its importance for the progress of obtaining accessibility between differing cultures and world views have urged her to open a website/portal where general information, specific topics and philosophers, useful links etc. in connection with comparative philosophy can be brought together. On this site can also be found articles from her own hand over comparative philosophy. This information may be freely used when its source is correctly cited.
